George Regional Hospital Set to Break Ground for Labor and Delivery Expansion

Monday, October 19, 2015

George Regional Hospital began delivering babies in 2011. Since that time, more than 800 new lives have been brought into the world by Jay Pinkerton, M.D., of Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates. Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Pinkerton and his wife, Emily Pinkerton, a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, helped open the Labor and Delivery wing a little over four years ago.

The hospital is set to break ground for a new expansion on Friday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. “The number of women we have delivering at George Regional is quickly outgrowing the space we have. These new rooms will essentially double our capacity within the secure Labor and Delivery Unit,” explains Dr. Pinkerton. The expansion includes two additional birthing suites as well as an outpatient triage and fetal monitoring room.

The community is welcome to the ground breaking ceremony. “The main goal of the expansion is to help us provide the best care possible to our community. We already have the best OB/GYN, doctor and staff, now we need the space,” said Greg Havard, CEO, George Regional Health System.
