Sarah Kathryn Cronier Joins Speech Therapy Team at Southeast Rehab

Friday, June 12, 2015

“This is a very challenging field of work, but I absolutely love to watch the progress of my patients,” explains the newest member of the Southeast Rehabilitation staff, Sarah Kathryn Cronier, Speech Therapist.

After taking a vocational class which focused on the medical field during high school, Sarah Kathryn became interested in speech therapy. Sarah Kathryn earned both her Bachelor’s (2011) and Master’s (2013) degrees in Speech Therapy from the University of Southern Mississippi. After completing her clinical fellowship year in Jacksonville, FL, Sarah Kathryn took a speech therapy traveling job. “I love to travel, but I also realized I like short trips. Three months was way too long to be away from my family,” she said.

Sarah Kathryn’s focus will be providing outpatient speech therapy for children and adults at the rehab center (838 Mill Street). “Since most of my hands-on experience has been in the skilled nursing setting, I’m really looking forward to working with children,” she adds.

According to the National Institutes of Health, by the first grade, roughly five percent of children have noticeable speech disorders. Most of Sarah Kathryn’s pediatric patients have language development and articulation problems.

Originally from Pascagoula, Sarah Kathryn stills lives close to her family. “I still live in Jackson County, but I absolutely love Lucedale!” she adds. “I love to spend time with my family and I am trying a new hobby—gardening,” she laughs. “Since I have land, which is great, I thought I would try to grow some watermelons.”

“Everyone has been very welcoming here. I’m looking forward to working with my patients and their families in developing or regaining skills needed for a happy and productive life.”

Southeast Rehab, an extension of George Regional Health System, has been helping patients effectively manage their rehabilitation for almost 25 years. The center features a blend of prevention and treatment services all at one location. For more information, call 601-947-9190.
