The safety, health, and well-being of our community have always been our top priority. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, George Regional Health System has implemented rigorous screening procedures for patients, staff, and visitors, continued thorough sanitization practices, and offered the most up to date testing and treatment protocols available.
As we move through November and approach flu season, this may cause more concern because the common cold, flu, and other respiratory illnesses, may mimic COVID-19 symptoms. That makes testing all the more important.
COVID-19 Testing
To better serve our community, George Regional Health System has secured some of the most sensitive and technologically advanced Covid testing equipment available, all to serve you.
Covid Testing Locations
We provide testing at four locations; Community Medical Center, Wiggins Primary Care, Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates, and Greene County Family Medical Clinic where we offer Rapid Antigen Testing—which provides results in only 15 minutes. Molecular testing is also available in specific circumstances, is the most accurate, and results are available the same day. We can test patients with same-day appointments either during normal clinic visits or drive-thru visits.
COVID Hotline
If you are experiencing any symptoms of a respiratory illness, please call our COVID Hotline (601-673-6101) and follow the prompts for appointment information.
COVID Unit
Should you or your family need hospitalization, rest assured that our treatment protocols and medications are the same as the ones used across the United States. Our COVID Unit is specifically fitted with negative pressure rooms to ensure infectious germs don’t spread via the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system or from person to person. George Regional Health System offers all the approved medication for COVID-19 including ‘convalescing plasma’ when needed.
New Therapeutic Treatment
The newest therapeutic treatment—Monoclonal Antibodies—has been shown to directly neutralize the COVID-19 Virus and prevent the progression of the disease. We anticipate receiving the new treatment this week. This treatment is predicted to reduce viral load and improve symptoms. The new outpatient treatment is reserved for those who are 65 or older or others who are at the greatest risk for hospitalization or poor outcomes due to underlying health conditions (diabetes, obesity, asthma, kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, etc.). This is the treatment President Trump received.
Keeping Our Community Informed
Earlier this year, we implemented a COVID Hotline (601-673-6101) and a dedicated COVID-19 section on our website (www.georgeregional.com) where you will find the most updated information about the virus.
Here at George Regional Health System, we want our community to have access to the best medical resources and we believe we are offering exactly that.
