JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Activity Assistant is supportive in nature. The Activity Assistant assumes the leadership of the Activity Department in the absence of the Activity Director in meeting the objectives of the Activity Department, which is to develop and implement an activity program that is designed to meet the individual activity needs and interests of each individual resident. The Activity Assistant works as a member of a team under the direction of the Activity Director.

 

EDUCATION

Must have a high school diploma.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1.  Must be able to read and write with good grammar skills

  2. Is self motivated and able to take the imitative to complete duties as specified and directed by the Activity Director.
  3. Possesses a valid drivers license.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with the Activity Director to restore self confidence, community integration, resocialization skills, improving physical condition, leisure education for residents, one-one programming for the room/bed-bound, providing mental stimulation and sensory stimulation for residents in the facility.

  1. Assists the Activity Director in completing activity assessments as assigned
  2. Assists the Activity Director in identifying problems/needs of residents and in developing an activity plan, as requested by the Activity Director.
  3. Participates in patient care plan conferences as requested by the Activity Director, and represents the Activity Director at these conferences in the absence of the Director.
  4. Has a working knowledge of resident’s rights and is an advocate for the resident.
  5. Has a working knowledge of policies within the Activity Department and throughout the facility, and abides by these policies.
  6. Completes documentation as assigned by the Activity Director in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Communicates with Department Heads and other staff when necessary to insure full implementation of the activity program
  8. Keeps confidential any and all information regarding the resident’s personal and clinical records.
  9. Provides assistance to the Resident’s Council as requested.
  10. Assists the residents in transporting to and from activities as needed.
  11. Conducts activities with the residents, both groups and on a one-one and an individual basis as scheduled by the Activity Director.
  12. Provides supervision of Volunteers as requested by the Activity Director.
  13. Runs errands for the Activity Director as requested
  14. Participates in community oriented events and special marketing projects as requested
  15. Recruits, trains, and orients volunteers as requested by the Activity Director.
  16. Is responsible for handling of funds within the Activity Department.
