What an Amazing Day on the Greens!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the 2nd Annual GRHS Foundation Golf Tournament this year! Because of your support, we had an incredible day filled with fun, friendly competition, and amazing community spirit. From our players and sponsors to the volunteers and staff who made it all possible, we couldn’t have done it without you! Together, we are making a real impact in our community.Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to each of you for making this event a success!
Star Gala 2024
The GRHS Foundation held its first Star Gala to recognize the stars in the community and in our health system and raise money. This year at the Gala the foundation recognized the scholarship recipients for 2024. The Foundation has two different types of scholarships, A Healthcare Scholarship and a Foundation scholarship for high school seniors. 3 recipients received $5,000 each for the Healthcare scholarship: Hayleigh Parker, Crystal Collins, and Kaylee Hayden. 6 high school seniors were recipients of the $500 Foundation Scholarship: Maggie Ferguson, Cooper Whatley, Alyssa Holland, Avery Fairley, Jase Read, and Noah Wallace. The night consisted of awards, good food, a jazz band, and a silent auction. Two employees received awards for Employee of the Year of 2023 and Provider of the Year- People’s Choice. Hanna Jordan received Employee of the Year which was chosen by her colleagues. Dr. Cody Davis was chosen Provider of the Year by the community. The Foundation was able to raise over $25,000 towards supporting its mission.” We look forward to another great Gala in 2024 on May 3rd. We hope to see you there!

Reindeer Run 5K 2023
George Regional Health System Foundation organized their first 5K Reindeer run December 9th, 2023.
Golf Tournament 2023
George Regional Health System Foundation organized their first ever Golf Tournament. This event took place at Whispering Pines in Hurly, MS. We are so grateful to the participants and to all of our sponsors. Because of them, we were able to raise over $12,000 of funds for our Foundation. These funds will help fund scholarships to local students and help people in the community with healthcare needs.
Layla Day 2021
It started as a fundraiser for a local teen but “Team Layla Day” turned into an inspirational day for all involved.
Team Layla Day (March 19, 2022) felt like a church gathering, family fun day, food/live music festival, fundraiser, and an employee picnic all rolled into one great day.
The GRHS Foundation is the new nonprofit charitable side of the Health System which is focused on helping local patients.
All totaled, Team Layla Day brought out more than 500 participants, 50 volunteers, and raised over $34,000 for Layla Jamison’s physical rehabilitation and continued therapy. Layla was able to attend the entire event with her family, helped co-host the drawdown, and visited every booth in her wheelchair.
Layla is the George County High School senior who survived the Highway 26 road collapse during Hurricane Ida’s torrential rains. Layla’s mother Kim Jamison, said the crash has changed the family’s focus, and faith is what has kept the family going.
The Foundation’s leadership team began serious planning for Team Layla Day in late January after the Jamison Family returned home for physical rehabilitation in Atlanta. The event originally centered around a big $5,000 Drawdown event but quickly expanded into prize raffles, bouncy houses, dunk-a-doctor and kid games (Frisbee Frenzy, Plinko, Dart Shoot) all around the high school football field.
The Health System’s CEO Greg Havard says, an event this successful can only happen through outstanding local partnerships.
“Our sponsors came through financial, but just as importantly; they were champions for this event. They helped promoted it, provided volunteers, and supported us from the beginning. I want to thank each one of them for their contributions. I’m also very proud of the number of health system employees and departments that volunteered for Team Layla Day,” Havard said.
